MY 20 Favourite Movies...

I love to be swept away to dreaminess. I love to disappear into the beautiful. I love to melt into painfully awkward sweetness. And  I absolutely LOVE to giggle (okay... belly-laugh 'till I cry) at the inane.

This was meant to be a 10 favourite movies list but the movies of my heart are 20 and I couldn't choose only 10 of them... nor could I choose an order of how much I love each one. And so, I am listing in order of release years, all except for the always TOP FAVOURITE of my heart... Silverado..... it always comes FIRST!

These are the movies that when I'm sick, I can just choose one to put on and lay down to rest and watch knowing I won't have to get up again because once it ends... all I have to do is reach for the remote and press 'play' to start it all over again and again because they just never get old.

Just remember, I have never claimed to be 'deep'.......

  1 - Silverado (1985)

A gang of good guys united through circumstance and a town in need of saving... just simply a combination not to be missed! My heart will always belong to Emmett BUT to witness Payden set a horse is not for the faint of heart... hotness overload; Kevin Kline can RIDE!!

2 - Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (1954)

Kidnapping is never cool... unless it's Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, then it's cool!

 3 - Cat Ballou(1965)

"Hedda, you old heifer, we got money!" - seriously THE best stomach grab in movie history!!! My  own tummy hurts from laughing every time!

 4 - Grease (1978)

Poodle skirts, roll-cuffed bluejeans, peer pressure, cool cars, doo-wop, the diner, first love and the drive-IN!!!

 5 - Urban Cowboy(1980)

"She knows what she's doin'." Basically, Urban Cowboy is this - Scott Glenn... pity my heart..... my life has never been the same!

 6 - Six Pack(1982)

"No shit, Dick Tracy!" I was continually in trouble thanks to my love of this line... I made my parents crazy using it EVERY chance I got! It was my aunt took me to see Six Pack, starring my beloved Kenny Rogers, when it came out in the theatre when I was nine... I wanted to be Breezy SO badly! She was strong and determined even through her fears and pain and I idolized her, I still do.

 7 - Rhinestone(1984)
Dolly and Sly... what more do I really need to say?? Except... in case you aren't yet convinced.....
"Hey, ya'know what, Nick? A couple hours on horseback, I could have you walkin' like Roy Rogers!"
"Heh! A couple hours on horseback he'll be walkin' like Dale Evans!"
My poor mom had to explain that joke to me when I saw the movie at age eleven but once it clicked... well it's just never gotten old. I remember her sitting on the couch with her knitting and I asked, "Who's Dale Evans?" she said simply, without missing a beat or even a slight giggle, "RoyRogers' wife." I don't think she was anywhere prepared for the hilarity that has ensued all these years, and continues still.

8 - Summer Rental (1985)
John Candy, a frustratingly epic family vacation and a sailing race... golden!

9 - Dirty Dancing (1987)
"Look... spaghetti arms!" ... Um, yeah..... I'll see your spaghetti arms, if you'll raise me a couple'a meatballs! Summer camp was never like this when I went!

10 - Necessary Roughness (1991)

School dreams coming true even after they both thought it was too late... pure awesomeness!

11 - Captain Ron (1992)

Misadventures in sailing, on an ocean of hysterical promise... I love Martin Short!

 12 - Tommy Boy (1995)

Okay, it might seem like a dumb movie but it's just filled with SO much sweetness! Up until this movie I had really only seen the amazing Brian Dennehy in his sparkle-flashin'-eyed bad guy roles but to see him radiate as a dad over the moon with proud... we'll, it's kind'a when I fell completely in love with him!

13 - Something To Talk About (1995)

Ummm... Brett Cullen!

Okay, there's more, lots more actually! I love the full dynamics of this movie about relationships. It's about marriage turmoil, it's about mothers and daughters, about fathers and daughters and it's about sisters and always being there for each other even when it seems impossible to have to share the same space for even a second. Plus, the thought of having a home to go back to, nevermind one filled with a dream horse ranch... I live vicariously (even through the turmoil) every time! I also love to live vicariously, Julia Roberts' beauty... I know looks aren't supposed to matter but if I could choose to look like anyone, it would be her, for sure!

 14 - Out to Sea (1997)

"A good fart'll give you a concussion!"

I love these two together!!

15 - Superstar(1999)

Okay, I know she's not a real person BUT... Mary Katherine Gallagher is, without doubt my GREATEST hero!!! She is totally herself at EVERY cost and I adore her, incredibly. She's weird, she's awkward, she's filled with beautiful. I don't think anyone else in the world could rock a 'Let's Fight Venereal Disease Talent Contest' the way Mary Catherine Gallagher does!

PS: My heart exploded at the absolute sweetness Sister Christian moment!!! A lot of people say there's something wrong with me...

16 - Finding Nemo (2003)

Dory... oh, sweet Dory!

17 - 50 First Dates (2004)

A guy so crazy about a gal he works to win her over daily... kind of a no-brainer perfection for me!

18 - My Life In Ruins (2009)

"We called him Uncle Phil..." Sweet, funny, serious, campy - this one has it all!

 19 - Thor (2011)

I'm not usually one for superhero movies but Thor is different and the very last line is always so worth the wait ... ohmygosh..... the sadness mixed with the sparkle devastates me EVERY single time!

 20 - Just Go With It (2011)

If you've lasted this far, you've likely noticed my penchant for annoying-humoured, campy vacation movies in general but this one is beyond fantastically fun! I want to go to Hawaii!!!

And there you have them... the movies of my heart!

I want to know YOUR favourite movies so please, share in the comments section and maybe it'll become a new facourite of mine, too!
