A country music singer escaping the rush of fame, a rugged but caring mountain man and the sweetest bunch of kiddoes in search of a loving home... Seriously, how much more awesome could fit into a Christmas movie??! Filled with music and hope, yearning and trusting, Smoky Mountain Christmas is filled with beautiful, Christmassy feels from start to finish! Dolly Parton is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favourite artists, both in music and film which is just icing on the ‘fruitcake’ in this one! And along for the mountain magic fun with the amazing Dolly Parton is Lee Majors, John Ritter and Bo Hopkins... just to name a few; not to mention it’s directed by the Fonz himself, Henry Winkler! But for reals, I was hooked at the cabin in the mountains and all the magic it promised, and fully delivered upon right from the very first time I ever saw this cozy movie of awesomeness!
I haven’t seen this movie on television in years but I still watch it over and over again on the old VHS tape my mom found at a store for me way back in the day... that old tape is totally going to break on me one of these days so I should definitely see if I can order a copy on DVD from somewhere... I’m not convinced I could live without this movie. I even found doorway inspiration for our own almost finished cabin from this movie that I just love so incredibly!
If you’ve seen Smoky Mountain Christmas and loved it... YAY! If you’ve seen it and not loved it, that’s okay, too... I will continue to be happy loving it to bits for you! And if you’ not yet seen it and it happens to be on television at some point when you are able to sit and watch... I hope you will give it a chance to become one of your favourites, too!
